The best buns in town?!?
The truth and nothing but the truth
We of course loooooove to show off our tattoos, and walk around in flip-flops and sunglasses. But as we all know, that’s basically only possible for four months a year in Berlin. And the burger options to eat somewhere outside are pretty much limited: the garden is either too small and overcrowded, or the burger from the kiosk is even worse than at the Big M. But in our own little up-and-coming ghetto of Wedding (it’s been up-and-coming since, eh, decades) we gave it one last try at Rebel Room, a kiosk at the junction of Müllerstraße and Seestraße, as multi-culti as you can imagine (actually it’s almost the only non-Turkish restaurant in the entire area…).
So, street food or haute cuisine?
We don’t do haute cuisine and we don’t speak French, but Rebel Room is a pleasant surprise in the category ‘basic and good’. Think Burgeramt as a comparison: not too expensive, not too many crazy burgers that are trying to overimpress you, but very pleasureable. Where you can take your friends easily for an afternoon tasting of meat.
The biggest delight were the buns, as they were a bit thicker than usual. Add a spicy BBQ sauce, some tomato and lettuce and one thick patty and you’re done. Is it that simple? Yes, it actually is. As long as you are in the 5-7,50€ price range, we don’t want any wizardry, we want good meat and good buns!
Famous last words?
Many last words. Because The Fugees and some serious old-skool hiphop were coming from the speakers, and that ALWAYS gets the party going with us. Bonus points! Less funny was that we ordered sweet potato chips to discover they were… chips and not fries. Highly original though, and we never mind chips. And the sun was shining, so nothing could really come between us and our meat anyway!
